Review: I loved the book version of this film, and admit that I held high expectations of the movie. I'm proud to say that I wasn't disappointed!

I surprisingly remembered everything from the book. I think that it was great to see actual people acting everything. The movie had great action, and even though I'd read Pittacus Lore's  hard work first, I still sometimes was lost at what was going to happen next!

Number Six in the movie was much more than I expected her to be. She was, to put it simply (please excuse my language here), a badass. I just loved the scene where . . . well, the part where you first see her in the movie. She brought a sudden flare to the great battle at the end of the movie.

Overall, this movie was absolutely, spectacularl marvelous. I am anxious for The Power of Six (the book) to be released in September. Hopefully they will maje a movie of it as well. I'm thinking they will, though, because I Am Number Four (film) left us with a sort-of giant cliffhanger :)

Review: I originally wanted this novel after I read a co-blogger's review of it. Then my anxiousness grew once I saw the movie being advertised. I got the book only half a month ago; I've read it and have to say: I wasn't expecting what I got.

The first thing that pulled me in is probably the story line that I had heard on the movie commercial: "There were nine of us. Three are dead. I am Number Four." I mean, who wouldn't be drawn in by something like that?! Sure enough, of course, that was the plot. That alone really did make it interesting for me. I hadn't read anything like it in a while, if I'd ever read anything like it.

There was definitely some action. There's a HUGE battle at the end, at which someone very close to John (a.k.a. Number Four) dies. I cried, once again, like a baby. There is romance, as to be expected; John falls in love with Sarah Hart, the daughter of the realtor that sells John and his "father" Henri the house they stay in. Their love for each other was, at some points, a little cliche, but I was able to deal with it.

I have to say that this really was a well thought out book, the same as all these other books that have been taking up my time. I am glad that I bought this and had a chance to read it. Next goal: See the movie! :P

And...

I'm a sucker for aliens.

Really. So I couldn't resist getting this book right away when I found out about it. The premise is spectacular and it sounded freaking awesome!

But I was quite disappointed. It was pretty boring, even (read: especially) on the action-packed part, the part we're supposed to love and read without being able to avert our eyes from the pages.
But the opposite happened. I was so. Damn. Bored. That is NOT supposed to happen!

Four (aka John) is a likable character, even though he sounded too...human. He's an alien, should he think like that? And why did he fall for a human girl? I liked her, but I'm sick of half-bloods (except Riordan's), hybrids and half-somethings. Ugh.
His Legacies were awesome though. And the Chest. And anything remotely Loric.
And Henri. Gosh i liked Henri. He was so sweet and protective and fatherly.

The writing is pretty good, easy to read and - have I said the whole concept is amazing? Because it is.

Anyway, if you like aliens and don't mind some slow pacing and lack of action (in the first half of the book NOTHING happens), this is the book for you.
